i first bought a ravaglia negaro silver car around 91 with 25 k miles on it drove it for 2 yrs and put the mileage up to 55k (incidently bmw bought it back for their museum recently)or so i loved that car but i heard about a sport evo about 40 miles from me i knew of the guy that had it and heard he was thinking of selling...i phoned and he was, i went to the bank and drew out what i thought would buy it and a friend and i went down to see it.....at that stage it had 16000 miles on it i was smitten had to have it and i bought it on the spot.....it felt so much tighter and torqueier than the ravaglia. while we were there i saw another sport sitting and enquired about it .......it was a friend of the guy i had bought from he was storing it for his mate.he had bought it in 1992 as an investment,there was also a group a car there at the time.
anyway i was determined not to rack up the miles with this car so it became a fair weather garage queen although i did a trip to stuttgart in her one summer and a trip to the ring.she now has 35 k miles approx
i have owned her since about 1994 always as standard until last xmas i put bbs rs on then lowered her to suit am in the process now of putting an airbox and alpha n on just need to get it mapped now when the weather improves.
about 3 yrs ago i heard about the unregistered car, and that it might be coming for sale.i was on the phone that same day and went to see it that night. had to buy it, i didnt care what it cost i had to have it...........and so i bought her.......the car came into uk and had been sitting at bmw bracknell i think and the last guy bought it thro bavarian garages our local bmw dealer. he gave them a letter to say the car wasnt going on the road and so it has never been registered.
i never wanted to drive the sport too much to keep the miles low so i thought i would buy the new one and drive more at the older one........but i havent done that either.....mad i know but there you are.
i just love the shape and history of these cars and the way they handle.
i drive that new sport maybe 4 miles twice a year its unbelievable just drives like a new car despite being 18 yrs old box is beautiful ,switches everything about it
