| Kad pirmo reizi ieraudzīju ziņās bildi, nodomāju, ka tas ir fotošopistu minējums par to kā viņš izskatīsies.  Bet nu varbūt, ka tomēr nemaz nav tik slikti.  Jāgaida rudens, kad varēs notestēt.

Kāds vēl X1? X1 ir pirmā sērija. Vismaz tā likās. GLK ir tīiiiirākais X3 konkurents. Tāpat kā Q5.
Nu hvz, man likās, ka GLK ir tāds pats par 5cm pacelts kompaktnieks, kā X1. Siluets arī līdzīgs. Cerams, ka sanāks izmēģināt kaut kad to X1.
BMW no F1 aizgāja, tagad varēsim turēt īkšķus par BMW WRC rallijā!  Nu gandrīz BMW...
The rumour has been bandying about for a while, and now MINI has confirmed that it will indeed put a team into the 2011 World Rally Championship.
The race car will be based on the Countryman, its development undertaken by the venerable WRC dab hands at Prodrive.
Initially MINI will only race a handful of 'selected rounds' during the 2011 season, before competing fully from 2012. It plans 'involvement [in the WRC] for several years'.
The car conforms to the FIA's Super 2000 rules, so it uses the 1.6-litre turbo engine from the production Cooper S Countryman. It will be more powerful than the standard 181bhp unit, and the car lighter, though MINI hasn't released any figures as yet.
The rally car will be offered to private teams, and Prodrive says it has already received some firm expressions of interest. The company has had the Countryman in development since early 2009.
The four-wheel drive car is the first MINI WRC racer of the BMW era, and the company hopes it will emulate the success of the original Mini's 1960s rallying heyday.
Prodrive chairman Dave Richards said: "During the 1960s Mini captured the imagination of the world when the tiny car took on the might of V8 powered Fords and won what was then one of the toughest motorsport events, the 4,000km Monte Carlo rally.
"I believe our new MINI will become a firm favourite of the latest generation of rally fans, just as it is adored by its millions of owners across the world."

| BMW Ends Production of M6 and V10 Engine
MUNICH, Germany — BMW said Tuesday it has ended production of the BMW M6 coupe and convertible but gave no clue as to what — if any — replacement there will be for the two high-performance models. The German automaker also killed off the M6's 507-horsepower V10 engine, apparently in an effort to refocus on more fuel-efficient eight-cylinder power plants.
BMW gave no real explanation for the demise of the M6 and the V10 in its statement about the end of production.
"With the departure of these two fascinating and exceptional athletes and the already-discontinued fourth-generation BMW M5, production will now also cease for the unique V10 high-rev engine," BMW said in a statement.
The German automaker noted that 14,152 examples of the M6 models were built in total. It sold 9,087 units of the coupe, which launched in 2005, and 5,065 convertible models, which launched in 2006.
The BMW M6 models return 11 mpg in city driving and 17 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA.
The 2010 M6 coupe starts at $103,225, including an $875 destination charge. The 2010 M6 convertible starts at $109,025, including shipping.
The news about the demise of the M6 comes as Bloomberg reported on Tuesday that BMW will expand the BMW and Mini models to "fend off Volkswagen AG and Daimler AG." It said BMW plans to "widen" the 6 Series and Mini model lines as well as build a battery-powered car for city driving.
