| BMW 650i 
BMW’s new 4.8-litre eight-cylinder developing maximum output of 367 hp has already made a great name for itself in the BMW 750i. Now this power unit developing maximum torque of 490 Nm also comes in the BMW 6 Series Coupé and Convertible, the two new BMW 650i models replacing the BMW 645Ci. 34 hp more power and an increase in torque by 40 Nm give BMW’s two large sports cars even more dynamic performance and supremacy on the road: The new BMW 650i Coupé accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, while its open-air counterpart completes the same exercise in 5.7 seconds.
Passing another vehicle in fourth gear of the six-speed manual gearbox featured as standard (six-speed automatic transmission is available as an option) takes the 650i Coupé just 4.7 seconds, with the 650i Convertible requiring only 0.2 seconds more. Top speed of both models is limited electronically to 250 km/h or 155 mph. Despite its remarkable performance, the new eight-cylinder coupé consumes just 11.9 litres of premium plus fuel on 100 kilometres, equivalent to 23.7 mpg Imp. The corresponding figure on the 650i Convertible is 12.9 litres/100 km or 21.9 mpg Imp.
From outside both of the new models remain very discreet in showing how new they really are: Only two new exterior colours – Monaco Blue and Barbera Red – as well as new 19-inch wheel design with different-sized tyres (245/40 R 19 at the front, 275/35 R 19 at the rear) show the connoisseur that these are indeed BMW’s new 650i models. A further sign of distinction underlining the two cars’ powerful look is the wider track at the rear up by 8 millimetres or 0.3´´.
Moving on to the elegant but sporting interior, the colour world now in black replacing the former grey colour scheme, the new design of the iDrive Controller as well as start/stop button on the instrument panel are the most striking points. Comfort Access comes as an option. |
